Tomato is the most popular fruit in the world. It is rich in vitamins and minerals that are beneficial to the body, such as, vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin K, vitamin P, vitamins B1, B2, calcium, phosphorus and iron. It is also full of lycopene, carotenoids, beta-carotene and amino acids, which help prevent arteries from hardening, reduce high blood pressure, and diminish the chance of developing cancer. The antioxidant properties in lycopene are more effective than beta-carotene and carotenoid in slowing down the deterioration of cells in the body with the ability to inhibit the growth of malignant cells, especially in uterus and lungs. It also helps balance the work sate in the prostate gland as much as 21% and it is one of the main ingredients used in medication to avert any harm that may occur from abnormal production of free radicals, as well as, keep the heart healthy and improve the condition of ischemic heart disease.
